Oh how I love photographing families in Dublin! Everyone is so kind– the general attitude and sense of humour always feels very ‘Canadian’ to me actually, so I feel right at home. And there’s just something about Ireland… this was my fourth (or maybe fifth?) visit, and I will keep going back forever and ever I’m sure. This particular trip my husband came along, so we were able to get in some sightseeing as well… including a particularly beautiful (albeit very long and eventually somewhat painful!) bicycle ride through the countryside in Kilkenny.
This session took place in mid summer, and the weather was just perfect for it. I had photographed this family once before, and was so happy to see them again so shortly after the arrival of a new addition to their family; a beautiful baby girl.

about the session: malahide castle
Malahide Castle and grounds is a quick train or drive just north of Dublin city, Ireland. The sprawling forests and grounds around the castle are free to visit, and you can also buy tickets for a tour of the castle and visit to the walled garden, fairy trail and butterfly house. For this session we began outside the castle and a few surrounding buildings, and then explored further into the castle demesne, where we found beautiful fields and ivy covered trees. There are often people gathered around the entrance of the castle (and on this particular day, a parked car!) but with a bit of handy photoshopping, I’ve made it look as if there was no one else in sight.
