What a whirlwind day that ended in this session of my dreams ––really, did this happen? A family this wonderful at a location this stunning–– these are the days that I pinch myself to make sure this career/life I’m living isn’t a dream.
But before I ended up at Sanssouci Park in Potsdam Germany (a little less than an hour outside of Berlin), that morning I was in Amsterdam with a last-minute cancelled flight. So I quickly booked a ticket, hopped on the train at Amsterdam Centraal and traveled six hours across Europe by land instead. It was funny, because this was how I had initially wanted to travel over to Berlin (I always prefer trains, not only for the environmental factor, but also the views!) but thought it would be too tight for time with my schedule. Well I landed in Berlin, threw my bags in the hotel, immediately hired a car to Potsdam, and made it there with just enough time to pre-scout. You can imagine my frayed nerves arriving in Potsdam– but walking into this most glorious of parks with a pink palace of dreams felt like the perfect gift/end to such an intense travel day. And then, to meet this family! We really had the best time, and it felt at times like we had this park all to ourselves (save a pair of ballroom dancers, twirling away to beautiful music on the Pavilion behind us.)
And après? A cold drink and giant strudel to welcome myself back to Germany! And then back to the hotel to prepare for family sessions in Berlin the next day.

about the session: schloss sanssouci
This family photography session took place in early June, about three hours before sunset at Sanssouci Palace in Potsdam. I think I can confidently call this location one of my top in the world for family photos thus far– there are acres and acres of fields for children to run in, multiple backdrops of stunning castles and buildings, and not really a lot of people around (in comparison to something equally impressive, such as Versailles). I can’t wait to be back!
