I’ve photographed this family many times before, both in Hong Kong -where they live- as well as in Canada: one of their favourite places to holiday! But this was my first time photographing them in their home, and it was so special.
There’s just something about staying home–it’s easy. Nowhere to rush off to! On top of that, I find portraits taken at home are extra special. I always try to get a photo of each child in their own bedroom (how special to look back on, one day!) and then we’ll photograph in a few spaces of the home, and at the end I’ll try to also take a few outside; whether that’s in front of the home, just down the street, sitting on front steps, or on an outdoor rooftop space like the one this family has.
Below are a handful of favourite frames from this session. I always love photographing this family so much!
Warmly,

about the session: at home
The timing for an at-home session is a little different than a usual outdoor session. I like to begin a bit earlier than sunset hours, as it can begin to get a bit dark inside. Generally we’ll aim for morning, or a little earlier in the afternoon, depending on how much/if we’d like to shoot outdoors as well as inside.
