– Sunshine Coast Family Photographer: Gibsons, British Columbia –
It was a magical little ferry ride through the Howe Sound and I was there– on the stunning Sunshine Coast of British Columbia, to photograph this wonderful family at their home away from home. This was perhaps the session I was most excitedly anticipating last year: a family of four sisters, aged one through eight. And– to be photographed near sunset, running barefoot through their summer domain. Such is the stuff which dreams are made of!
The evening did not disappoint. We were gifted a mix of dreamy sun and cloud, many nooks to explore, much driftwood to climb, an expanse of grass for foot races, and many, many giggles.
I have such nostalgia attached to places I spent summers as a child, and I can only hope and imagine that these portraits will be so, so special to these four sisters one day. x

about the session: sunshine coast, british columbia
This British Columbia family photography session took place in mid July, about three hours before sunset in Hopkin’s Landing, British Columbia (a short ferry ride away from Vancouver, and close to both Gibsons and Grantham’s Landing). I’d photographed one family on the Sunshine Coast once before, and was so pleased to be back! It’s said that time moves more slowly on Vancouver Island, but on the Sunshine Coast it trickles along quite perfectly– it’s a wonderful place to visit. Our location was this family’s summer home, and the immediate surroundings. We began in their back garden, and then played a bit in the grassy lawn, before finishing on the beautiful sprawling beach.
