Berlin– the beautiful city of juxtapositions. At once both traditional and modern, the city beats with a pulse that is very much its own. Below I’ll do a little show and tell of a few of my favourites locations to photograph families in Berlin. Scroll down to check them out!

Charlottenburg Palace (Schloss Charlottenburg)
Charlottenburg Palace and grounds are so perfect for family portraits in Berlin– there is so much room to run around, and an incredible amount of variety all within easy walking distance. The vast gardens were influenced by the gardens of Versailles, and there is also a large pond and meadows, as well as a few other very pretty buildings besides the grand palace itself, like the Neuer Pavillion and adorable Belvedere Teahouse.
Museum Island
Museum Island in Berlin is a UNESCO World Heritage Site with five museums devoted to archaeology & art. It has everything you dream of in terms of old world European architecture: stone columns, bridges, massive staircases, gorgeous buildings and views.
Tiergarten
This huge park stretches right through central Berlin: 520 acres and is the third largest urban park in Germany. I love the area around the lovely Café am Neuen See; there is the added bonus of a little lake with boats… and the possibility of a drink in the traditional Biergarten after your portrait session.
Bebelplatz
The area around Bebelplatz square in Mitte is another perfect spot for traditional European architectural backgrounds and giant staircases… including the Staatsoper Opera House, which is pink!
Heckmann-Höfe
The most adorable little courtyard in Mitte, with ivy clad walls, charming storefronts and a stone fountain.
