I’m often met with such astonishment whenever I talk about the natural beauty of Hong Kong; the gorgeous beaches and trails where I photograph family portraits. Hong Kong is so much more than the concrete jungle the rest of the world seems to think it is! (Although, there are so many fantastic locations right within and near Central as well). Below is a little ‘show and tell’ of a few of my favourite locations to photograph families in Hong Kong. Scroll down to see which one you love best!

Victoria Peak
Victoria Peak, better known as ‘The Peak’ in Hong Kong, is right on Hong Kong Island, at the top of Mount Austin. My favourite way to reach it is by way of the Peak Tram: an over 100 year old tram that takes you (what feels like vertically) up the side of the mountain. Up at the top are two of my favourite parks to photograph families in HK: Mt. Austin Road Playground (pictured below), and Victoria Peak Gardens.

Sheung Wan
The winding alleys, stairs and murals of Sheung Wan make for such a cool spot for family photos with a real Hong Kong city vibe. I love the mix of old and new in this part of the city. I’ve stayed in Sheung Wan a few times now, and love the little eateries and antique alleys too!

Nam Sang Wai
Oh, Nam Sang Wai! A bit far to travel to (it’s up in Yuen Long), but so worth it for its romantic gum tree lined paths and gorgeous fields. I love to get there by taking the tiny rustic ferry across the river, which ferries birdwatchers and cyclists across all day. It can sometimes get a bit busy with cyclists and tourists on the weekend, but so nice and peaceful on a weekday.

Chung Hom Kok Beach
The beaches of Hong Kong are so gorgeous. One of my favourites is a little beach called Chung Hom Kok, close to the well known area Stanley (another great spot!).

HKU
Hong Kong University is such a great spot for photos– never busy, lots of cover for sun and rain, and the architecture and colours are dreamy! Not to mention, it’s right in Central, so very easy to get to.

Shek O
Shek O has such variety– rocky oceanside, quirky, eclectic streets of Shek O village, and the main beach, with an expanse of white sand!

Thank you for reading–see you again in October HK! x
