Paris– la belle ville, the city of lights, love, and beauty. No major city in the world is as photogenic as Paris, and I truly feel so spoiled for choice when photographing families there. Below I’ll do a little show and tell of a few of my favourite locations to photograph families in Paris. Scroll down to check them out!

.
The Louvre
The main courtyard of the Louvre (the area with the famous pyramids!) is ideal for family portraits in Paris. Like almost anywhere else in the city, it is best –nearly empty– in the early morning. The neighbouring Tuilieries Gardens are gorgeous as well, and there are so many archways and beautiful backdrops to make use of.

Trocadero
The platform at Trocadero is the most iconic view of the eiffel tower, but really only viable in the early morning: by midday and in the evening this area is packed with people. Nearby is a quiet street with another gorgeous view of the eiffel tower.

Palais Royal
I just love Palais Royal! The Buren columns to jump from, grand doorways, a fountain, lines of trees, and a quaint cafe. It’s a great spot for children, and lots of shade or cover for any weather.

Musée Rodin
Musée Rodin is perfection. A small fee to enter, and then you find yourself in a little world of beautiful gardens, stone steps and grand facades; all without the crowds of Parisian city streets.

Montmartre
Montmartre has a heartbeat all its own. Famous for that old world french village charm– ivy clad walls, cobbled streets, lampposts, and tiny bistros, plus the beautiful dome of Sacré Coeur! It’s quite a different look from the main core of the city.

Parc de Bagatelle
This is a special spot, not nearly as well known as the others, and quite possibly my very favourite for family photos in Paris. The vast gardens of Parc de Bagatelle feature a tiny pink château built by the brother-in-law of Marie-Antoinette, a beautiful rose garden, stunning orangerie, statues, grand staircases, open fields… and it’s never that busy. Perfect if you are looking for somewhere a little quieter than the heart of the city, and want a bit of space for the kids to run about.

Jardin du Luxembourg
The loveliest of parks! Jardin du Luxembourg is another wonderful one for small children, particularly in the morning when it’s quite empty. A centuries old fountain, grand pond, beautiful palace, tree lined promenades. A perfect spot to meet for photos, and so iconic.
