2016
his year will mark my second Mother’s Day. I now have two ‘babies’; a spunky-yet-serious toddler Penny and a five month old patient, happy boy Kit.
Some things are easier now than at the start: I don’t count every wet diaper and record every feed, as new parents do. I’ll turn on an episode of PAW Patrol if we’re having a rough day…
But I still wake after a particularly restful night, in a panic that they haven’t yet stirred, praying that they’re still breathing. I have constant lists and schedules in my head…. and All The Questions: Are they getting enough fresh air? Vegetables? Stimulation? Affection? Discipline? Could I be doing better?
Motherhood is a beast, folks. A monstrously beautiful beast. And I hope that on the hardest of days, while you’re struggling through the most difficult parts of it, you might glance at your portraits on the wall and be reminded of the very best parts.

p.s. here are my babies. ;)
