Oh! To be back again living this day on the beach with this dearest of families. I bussed up in the middle of my family sessions in Berlin to meet them on their holiday in tiny Dierhagen, where Germany ends at the the Baltic Sea. The girls searched (and found!) fluttering butterflies with their nets, jumped from giant seaweed bales, and felt the water and sand on their feet. It felt like the perfect pause in my whirlwind Europe trip last year, and I can’t wait to travel there again one day.

about the session: new haus, dierhagen
The vacation home that this beach is next to is called New Haus, a delightfully modern pair of houses nestled in the quiet town of Dierhagen, Germany– about three hours north of Berlin, or two and a half hours east of Hamburg. The sand was powdery and there wasn’t a soul in sight. We photographed around midday, which really isn’t ideal for light– particularly on the beach! But as it sometimes goes, the clouds seemed to be quite aware of what we were up to, and helped to diffuse the sun perfectly.
