I was so lucky to chance upon a delightfully sunny February afternoon with just baby Peter and myself at home, and took the opportunity to take a few portraits of him to mark his first birthday. He is our youngest child, and our last baby– I simply cannot believe that he is already one!
Peter loves to crawl around, get into the others’ toys, and exclaims/yells “dadada!” when he is very happy. He adores his older siblings, and loves to throw food all over my floors. And I have to say, I love him even more now that he is finally sleeping through the night. ;)
about the photographs
I photographed these one year baby portraits of Peter for about fifteen minutes in the sunny south facing upstairs of our home. I followed him about a bit, and gave him a few toys to play with. He doesn’t get to play upstairs too often, so he was quite delighted to crawl from bedroom to bedroom… and then pull down all the books from his sister’s shelves.
It’s quite popular in Canada to do something called a ‘cake smash session’ for a first birthday, but I’ve always preferred to take a few portraits of our children in our home or outdoors, just doing whatever they like. (Although Peter does very much love to eat cake.)
