I absolutely love photographing this family—but I honestly thought this session might be over before it even began! We started off with a bee sting (inside one of the girls’ mouths, no less)! And as devastating as it would have been to reschedule (when a family has made such an effort to be there, all dressed and ready to go!), I really didn’t think it was going to happen after that. But with the calm, patient attitude of their mom and dad…we made it work! And in the end, everything turned out beautifully.

It really reminds me of so many sessions where things might feel to you like they’re not going “perfectly”. I always encourage my families to relax—everything’s going exactly as it should! There’s almost nothing I haven’t seen or handled at this point, and 99.9% of the time, things work out just as you dreamed it would.

about the session: late summer

This West Vancouver family photography session took place in late July, quite close to sunset. All portraits were photographed with a Canon 5D mkIV camera body and 50mm 1.2 lens.
