– Vancouver Family Photographer: West Vancouver –

West Vancouver is one of my favourite places to photograph families– each location is more magical than the last. For most children, being by the ocean or exploring a forest or field is the most calming and happy place to be, so anywhere in West Vancouver makes for a perfect place for a family to be photographed.

This location in particular is a personal favourite; it’s right on the ocean, so I’ve seen a few seals come close enough to say hello! There is also a wonderful old apple tree… that I’ve heard the fairies like to dance around on starry evenings. ;)

about the session: smoky skies in west vancouver

This West Vancouver family photography session took place in late summer, on a day when the skies of West Vancouver were hazy with wildfire smoke. While I always leave the final decision to my clients whether or not to go ahead in this kind of situation (this decision can depend on the level of the air quality warning, ages and health of the children, etc.) I actually very much love photographing when the sky is hazy– the light is still bright and lovely, but the haze gives the photos an ethereal quality similar to fog, but a bit warmer.
